TEDxMuscat 2012 at the Millennium Resort Mussanah

Its great to be able to attend TEDxMuscat 2012. The speakers are an eclectic mix and should be interesting to hear.

Abdullah Al-Zakwani the executive director of industrial innovation centre of Oman.

Resul Pookutty Oscar winner and a sound engineer for one of the nicest films recently “ Slumdog Millionaire “.

Eythor Bender who is developing mechanics to augment human mobility and capability.

Suleiman Bakhit the TED-fellow who must be hoping his Arabic super-heroes inspired by Middle Eastern history and mythology launch a super-hero trajectory into a film like ‘The Avengers’ .

Niels and Keld Hansen who are developing equipment to harness the constant energy from ocean swells and waves which may be many seconds apart. They should drop into Oman’s southern coast during ‘The Khareef’

Shayma Al Mughairy an artist using the Arabian Peninsula’s abundant sand to turn it into art.

Dr. Adhra Al Mawali who is researching leukaemia and how to target the individual cancer cells.

Sultan Al Amri who has sprung from watch design and retailing into car manufacturing with a target of an electronic car factory in Oman whose vehicles will be capable of 2,236 miles on a charge he says. I hope he brings a demonstration model.

Mustafa Barami  whose focus on environmental research led him into another dimension of setting up a paper mill and produce papers from date palm tree leaves; comparable I imagine to the Craft Centre Gallery in Manama Bahrain whose palm leaf paper products are so popular there.

The event will culminate on Sunday May 13th when The Queen and Sultan Qaboos will enjoy the event as part of the Diamond Jubilee.
